A letter from Audrey Suker, CEO of ServeMinnesota: |
Hello from ServeMinnesota. We are thinking of all of you during this continuing time of flux and change as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly as so many of our AmeriCorps members and programs begin new service terms this fall. Thank you for your ongoing service at a time when your communities really need you. As you know, we at ServeMinnesota have felt especially inspired to step up to help our communities over the past six or so months as we’ve seen increased need. The AmeriCorps Emergency Response Initiative brought help to nonprofit organizations, agencies and schools across the state with nearly 300 AmeriCorps members serving over the summer. Some of those organizations continue to have higher-than-ever demands for their services (for example, those helping people with food and housing insecurity) and will continue to have AmeriCorps members serving through the end of the year. In continuing to direct our programming where it can be used to effect the most change at this time, we are excited to announce a new initiative in partnership with the City of Minneapolis Health Department that will build upon this Emergency Response service in a new way. We will place 20+ AmeriCorps members with the department as case investigators or contact tracers who will communicate with people who have been diagnosed with and exposed to Covid-19. According to health policy and infectious disease experts, contact tracing is a key piece of getting the pandemic under control, and we are humbled to be a part of this crucial work. Would you or someone you know be interested in applying to serve with the Health Department in a remote capacity? Please visit this link to learn more. |
